To recap: During her testimony, Yellen said that while stocks generally don’t look very expensive, valuations for some “smaller firms in the social media and biotechnology industries” appear to be “substantially stretched.”� And with that, the Nasdaq Composite and small-company Russell 2000 tumbled.

Tesla, however, was already under pressure this morning, even before Yellen started talking. Some of that might be attributed to the news that BMW had struck a deal with Samsung SDI, who makes batteries for Apple (AAPL) and has recently expanded into the auto business, to spend billions of dollars on batteries for its cars. Competition here we come.

The selling accelerated as Yellen spoke however, suggesting that Tesla, which trades at 190.21 times 2014 earnings, might have been perceived as one of those pricey stocks, even if its not small, a biotech or social media company.

    Suncor's trading multiples have been depressed in recent years because of poor capital allocation and operational issues such as low utilization of its facilities. Nonetheless, when Steve Williams was promoted to CEO in May 2012, he made concrete plans to improve capital allocation and increase reliability at existing facilities. Not only has operational and financial results improved considerably since May 2012, but also Suncor attracted Warren Buffett's attention. Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) bought 17.8 million shares of Suncor in Q2 and the author expects Buffett to continue to build his stake further similar to how Berkshire built its stake in DirectTV (DTV) and General Motors (GM).     DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH  ) dropped its $25.5 billion bid for Sprint and then abandoned the $6.3 billion offer to buy Clearwire. That leaves Japan-based wireless operator Softbank unopposed in its quest to own Sprint, which in turn lost its only challenger for Clearwire ownership.     CBS continues to offer high-quality entertainment content. As evidenced by its first-quarter results, both its Showtime and CBS network channel audiences have grown on a year-over-year basis. One cause for concern is the increased competition from Time Warner�� HBO. Additionally, it remains to be seen if nascent content producers such as�Netflix will provide formidable competition for Showtime. Still, CBS is trading at a reasonable price-to-equity ratio, has a manageable debt level, and pays a modest dividend. CBS is probably due for a slight pullback, as it recently set a new 52-week high ��however, it should continue to OUTPERFORM for the rest of the year.
